Review of Insidious (2011) by Alex T — 15 Oct 2013
Insidious focuses far more on the elements of story and "spirituality" than most, and for this it should be commended. The acting is excellent although the roles of looking scared isn't exactly hard, the story has the usual "don't go in the attic feel" and a few spooky moments that make you jump but took a long to pick up the pace to the usual progression from bad to worse most horrors have in abundance.
One point that lets the film down is the main bad guy looks something between darth maul and the creatures from the alien movies this is forgivable it not for, the explanation of the "mysterious happenings" is blown out the water later when the all to predictable ending plays out exactly as expected.
Overall an enjoyable movie but don't get your hopes up too high-something you won't have a problem with once you see the overly cheesy opening.
