Review of Insidious (2011) by Nicholas L — 02 Jan 2014
It is one of the rare horror movies that is satisfying. Great skill is required in making a movie of this genre without using gore and blood. Even the "Boo" moments are few and not cheaply abused.
The protagonists are normal family members which the audience can grow affection to. There is no helpless screaming queen or nosey curious nerds. So attached to the characters, I nearly clap and shout hurray when one of the character is saved.
That is rare in a scary movie. Comparing to its similar counterpart "What lies beneath", this one wins in artistry and creepiness.
