Review of Inside Out (2015) by Gabriela M — 21 May 2018
"Inside Out".
If you haven't watched the film "Inside Out" you should definitely add it to your "must watch" list. This film will give an insight to your emotions and consciousness. We're able to see inside the mind and learn more about our thought process.
This pixar film by the writer-director Pete Doctier takes place inside Riley's head. She is an eleven year old girl who has recently moved from Minnesota to San Francisco. Riley experiences going to a new school, trying out for a new hockey team, and misses her hometown. The main focus of the film are how her emotions help her react to her new environment. There's joy, the leader of the pack, played by Amy Poehler, sadness, this sighing character played by Phyllis Smith, anger, a hot-headed character is played by Lewis Black, Disgust, a picky girl is played by Mindy Kaling, and fear a cautious character is played by Bill Hader.
The twist occurs when Joy and sadness get stuck in long-term memory, things back at headquarters get messy. Riley's life starts converting from vivid colors to depressing ones. She stops being that happy girl and starts to lose her personality islands. This technique is going to seem familiar since the writer-director Pete Doctier also directed the movie Monster Inc., Toy Story, and the movie Up.
Many psychologist were satisfied with the film because of how informative it was. They also loved the fact that the creators were able to turn something scientific into a movie.
