Review of Inside Out (2015) by John S — 21 May 2018
The latest film from Pixar Animation Studios has recently hit the big screens. The film was released on June 19, 2015. Pixar always finds their way back into our hearts and this time it is with the film Inside Out.
The movie focuses on how our emotions function. The movie has two different settings. There is the inside world and the outside world. This allows the film to have a lot of functional characters without letting the film get out of order. The Five emotions are Fear, Joy, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness.
They live inside of Riley's head, the main character. They each control a different emotion and work together to help Riley be who she is. All of the emotions look to their ring leader Joy. When Riley was born so was Joy. Joy knows she is the leader and she tries to keep everything perfect. Joy wants the best for Riley. Riley leads the group by giving orders and its not open for suggestions. In the outside world, Riley goes through her 1st day of school in her new city. Riley starts her day of strong and learns to adapt. Everything was going good until something goes wrong in her head.
Sadness is the emotion that Joy watches out for the most. Joy is worried that sadness might ruin things if she touches any of the core memories. With everything being so busy inside of Riley's head Joy is distracted and loses track of Sadness. Sadness got a hold of the core memories and the problems began. Both the inside and the outside worlds are going to start to collapse.
Both of the worlds are now going to face challenges that neither of them have faced before. In the outside world Riley is not acting like herself and is picking fights with her parents. Joy is not there to make her think straight. Joy cannot because she is stuck somewhere else with sadness.
The other emotions try but they fail. Riley is thrown through a loop until Joy and sadness find their way back. Joy realises how much all the emotions mean to one another.
