ANY suggestion that the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions were not 100% about America and what America could and did achieve is revisionist BS...Another Hollywood "MUST MISS" Americans Planted the flag. I SAW it....Americans paid for the moon landing. American Scientists, Astronauts, and Physicists made it happen. Not NATO. Not the international community. but the US alone in a race with Russia. JFK's 1961 "We choose to go to the Moon" speech was NOT some touchy-feely globalist "we-are-the-world", so let's all celebrate humankind and diversity speech; rather, it was Kennedy saying to America that because of who we are AS Americans, ANY achievement is possible if we set our minds to it!.

The first one to get a man on the moon would be the first one to prove that they could put an ICBM anywhere on the globe. It wasn't even a joint venture between the 2 nations. It was a competition, and the US won and we planted OUR flag and no else's on the moon. (and people wonder why a Trump is President).
