Review of Inside Out (2015) by Aliceofx — 10 Aug 2015
I should probably start this review with mentioning that I did not get to see the original English version of Inside Out but a dubbed one rather. I don't know how that affects my experience of it but here we go.
I don't want to go into plot details as the trailers avoided all that so I'll just say that Inside Out is a movie about growing up and loss. The two things that always seem to go together.
This movie drove me to tears. And judging from the other reviews I was not the only one. Yet, as I drove home, and looked back I realised that the story wasn't that great. There was nothing particularly striking about it. So why was I so in love with it by the end credits? Why was it such a kick in the emotions? Some part of me fears it will not stand the test of time.
What will ultimately happen is that you will see Inside Out and it will either touch you deeply or it won't. For the second group I don't know what to say. I guess it is a movie that just needs to be seen for the experience that it is.
