Review of Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) by Filmgrinder S — 24 May 2014
When the Coen's are out with a new film it's a must watch for me.
Sadly, their last two flicks left me quite disappointed - I've seen a downward pointing curve lately.
This film is a typical Coen film. It got great and smart dialogue and it got that little extra making it a fun watch. The story is cool and it looks really pretty. It starts of promising but then it flatten out for me. I like the cat stuff a lot and the main character is interesting. I did not notice that Justin was in it but Goodman did a very neat part.
I don't get into the folk-vibe even if Isaac does his job. It's believeable and all, but it's not enough for me - It was not funny enough or interesting enough to entertain me a whole deal.
OK film, and a lift from the brothers. Probably their best since "No Country For Old Men" and leveled with "Burn After Reading". I'm hoping their next one will be better, this felt like a safe step in the right direction but nothing more.
6.5 out of 10 cat scrotums.
