Review of Inner Senses (2002) by Mrs T — 15 Apr 2008
Very slow paced atmospheric horror flick that moves in the same way as almost every other ghost flick to come out of Asia. It is really good, don't get me wrong, but the mid section just drags on, but then without it, the end pay-off would never be as rewarding...so???? I hate watching these types of films since it is only really the end that affects me and makes the film worth watching. The scares and jump scenes never work as my patience is always running too thin by the time the film maker eventually decides to hit me with one. My mind is usually elsewhere if the story unfold too slowly. Inner Senses has a very well drafted script, strong dialogue and well constructed characters, but like I have said, not much in the way of horror happens. There is no gore nor tense moments for the gore hounds. All we get is a well written, but tired script that will appeal to fans of the typical ghost flick like 'A Tale of Two Sisters', 'Dark Water' or even 'The Ring'.
I recommend ALL should see this before a REMAKE is decided, just like you all should have SEEN the originals to the before mentioned films. And then get a petition together to ask hollywood to hire some script writers that can write ORIGINAL HORROR..........blah blah..
