Review of Inland Empire (2006) by Mark C — 03 Jul 2008
It was three hours long. It was trippy and confusing as hell. It was freaky and strange, even for a David Lynch film; its colorful mix of characters includes an aspiring actress who confuses herself (and us) with her character, a lost woman in a hotel room, a family of humanoid rabbits who converse with one another in odd fashion, a group of prostitutes who roam the Hollywood walk of fame, a phantom who haunts numerous characters, and a strange older woman with an Eastern European accent who seems to possess clairvoyant powers.
And I loved every minute of it. Overall, this film and Mulholland Dr. make for tough competitors when one tries to decide what David Lynch's best film is.
