Review of Inland Empire (2006) by Ladd W — 13 Aug 2008
Has it's moments of brilliance, as well as moments where I sort of get it, which then segues into the typical David Lynch wtf, as he's obviously fond of doing in his movies. That and the images of the ghost at the near end when Laura Dern shot it was probably the scariest fricking thing I saw in a movie.
And it probably is the very definition of mindfuck, when it comes to the term used in cinematic terms. It has those strong points, yes, but (and this might have been because of my mood while watching this, because you sort have to be in "that mood" when watching a Lynch flick) at three hours long, it also dragged to the point where watching it felt like a chore.
Which is thus why I give it three stars. It was well done, but nothing I'd add to my collection.
