Review of Inland Empire (2006) by Jaume A — 19 Sep 2008
One of the more difficult movies I've sat through. David Lynch dances on the line that separates genius from insanity. The result is a series of images that shock the conscious hampering any ability the viewer had to follow the twisted plot.
I believe Lynch's problem in this film is that he asks too much of his audience. The scenes he creates in his mind are too disturbing to transfer to film, and still allow the watcher to understand the meaning behind them.
It is; however, a movie that is worth (and requires) revisiting after a primary viewing. Still an interesting film from a great director.
