The contest is to watch this movie in its entirety and follow up with Southland Tales. I'm not sure what the third movie would be ("The Brown Bunny"?), but key being that watching this beginning to end is simply submitting yourself to the directors' ego, when they may or may not being testing their audience for synchophancy and masochism.
Don't watch this beginning to end. Flip through a few scenes if you want to. Read the plot description on Wikipedia. Admire at a bit of the artistic camera work and consider using it as video wall art.
Don't abuse yourself by watching this as if it were 2 hours and 46 minutes of something you should intellectually commit yourself to.
