Review of Inherit the Wind (1960) by Tim C — 10 Mar 2008
Stanley Kramer made a career out of making socially relevant movies, which were controversial and progressive for their times, Inherit The Wind is no different. This film maintains its relevancy today because of the surviving argument between fundamentalists and scientists.
Spencer Tracy gives one of the great performances of his career as a Clarence Darrow like character complemented by Frederich March's Willam Jennings Bryant- like character. Its obvious that this is based in the Scopes Monkey Trail in 1925, but its realism transcends its antiquity.
Gene Kelly plays a rare non-singing supporting role tinged with dramatic observations and comic relief. I urge you to pick up this movie.
