Review of Inherent Vice (2014) by Robert W — 20 Jan 2015
Hilarious and weird as hell. This was quite the story basically made from parts of an old school crime noir tv show in the 70's mixed with dark and dry humor (even if it is an adaption of an apparently unadaptable book) .
Most common film watchers will probably not get this, and there really is nothing to get here other than to admire the piece of comedy and dark romances at their finest in art form. You will either love this or hate it is the bottom line.
Weather that romance be with drugs or some "classy" ladies and crimes as show from a realist, bumbling fools, point of view . The dialogue here is what the awards were made for. Anyone who has been a long fan of Paul Thomas Anderson's work is likely to love this or even perhaps dismiss it as Andersons most confusing piece of work that will get better with multiple views.
Definitely one of the best films from 2014 that is more of a personal love than an actual recommendation.
