Review of Ingrid Goes West (2017) by Daryl K — 20 Dec 2017
Not really a comedy, unless you enjoy laughing at vain, insipid L.A. people, I guess. Elizabeth Olsen plays an example of this sort pretty convincingly. Her social media stalker Ingrid, played by Aubrey Plaza, is cringingly pathetic most of the time, with a few sympathetic moments here and there.
It's a pretty fearless performance, honestly. Topical subject matter -- I feel like I've seen most of the elements before. Questionable entertainment value, nothing too groundbreaking story-wise, but the actors mostly carry it, I think.
