Review of Ingrid Goes West (2017) by Alan R — 29 Jun 2018
An interesting film commentary on the vapidness of the social media generation? Maybe. But I was deeply uncomfortable watching this film. Between the mentally ill protagonist with a clear cluster B personality disorder, the vapid celebrity crush with a clear cluster B personality disorder, the pathetic typical "think with his penis" landlord, and the beta-male partner of the celebrity crush who is a grown man without a sense of purpose or personality, I really wasn't sure who there was to root for, or empathise with, in the story.
2 stars for the attempt at social satire, but really an unfortunate film with no likeable, or relatable, characters.
