Review of Infinitely Polar Bear (2014) by John W — 01 Feb 2014
This is a concise but complex masterpiece. Some of the few negative reviewers, who appear to me to be lacking, in varying measures,f knowledge, insight and/or sympathy, have found this touching autobiographical tale hard to take or understand.
You have to see the film through the eyes of a child, which you will do if you let Maya Forbes's great script and poetic direction work their artistry on you. And then the bittersweet wisdom will sweep you up, as you realize that what seems preposterous is real.
Which is a bipolar truth.
