In Infestation, lead guy Chris Marquette is in the middle of getting fired from his job when a loud screech knocks everyone out. When he wakes up, he finds himself, as well as everyone else in town, stuck in cocoon's which were made by large monster bugs which have apparently taken over the city.

After a sizable cast of random people are unwrapped from their cocoons, the group attempts to study the bugs a little, then make their way to Marguette's father's bomb shelter. Bug battles ensue, hybrid human-bugs are discovered, flying bugs try to stink people, the body count rises, and all sorts of other wacky things happen in this post-apocalyptic tale of woe and wonder.

The presentation of Infestation is wham, bam, thank you ma'm, delivering lots of flashy special effects (which actually range from pretty good to hokey) and lots of surprisingly successful humor. The cast manages to be fun and interesting, especially genre icon Ray Wise (Robocop, Jeepers Creepers 2) who play's Marquette's gung-ho father.

I would have liked to have known the origin of the bugs, but from the characters' standpoints, how would you find out? Also, the open-ended conclusion ends on a note that kinda bums you out since it leaves you hanging.

I definitely wouldn't mind a sequel to this surprisingly decent killer bug flick.
