Review of Infernal Affairs II (2003) by Vito M — 18 Jul 2008
Like Godfather Pt. II (which it clearly aspires to be), the new characters and recast actors make it a confusing watch. However, once it's established who is who, it comes over as a more compelling film than it's predecessor/chronological sequel due to the intense acting, especially Eric Tsang's ambitious, somewhat tragic Sam.
His final scene, as he composes himself after the loss of his nearest and dearest with the fireworks of the Hong Kong handover blazing before him, is just brilliant acting.
