Review of Infernal Affairs (2002) by Nate G — 12 Apr 2012

Thank God Scorsese got his hands on this script. That's all I can say, because as brilliant as this story was, most of the acting and the way this movie was haphazardly thrown together was opposingly bad.

I just felt like I was watching The Departed in fast forward. There was no emotion for almost any of the roles and even less behind the directing. I still give it two stars because of how great of a story it still is despite all of that.

And I'm still glad I saw it because it is the original and it's interesting to see the difference between what American audiences and eastern (Chinese?) audiences find more enjoyable. Maybe I was just spoiled by seeing the Scorsese version first and expected something at least ballpark.
