Review of Infamous (2006) by Mark J — 12 Jun 2007
Out of the two capote films, I preferred this one. it focussed more on the extremes of capote's life, from his lavish pretencious soirees with his "swans" in NYC to the gloomy depths of kansas, his relationship with the convicted murderer who provided the impetus for his chilling book, to his ultimate attack of conscience as the film hurtles to its inevitable conclusion.
the polarity of this film made it all the more engaging and I think, more emotional, even though maybe the factual content of the reltaionship was probably hammed up for hollywood. none the less, this one worked better than the oscar-winning turn the previous year.
