Review of Infamous (2006) by Ricardo V — 19 Aug 2007
Though I give credit for toby jones for his acting job, all he really did was have to do the voice, cause god gave him the exact face and height of capote. this film is lighter than 'capote' and the novel's tone, it's going more for the general audience than arthouse, independent movie goer audiences and this is why the film is not nearly as good as 'capote'.
the film begins and ends and i, the viewer, don't feel like i've been taken on a journey into the heart of a man who committed horrendous murders, the story 'in cold blood' is an extremely somber, real, just plain sad story and this movie skips around that aspect of what made the real-life story so compelling.
this is the type of movie I would expect hollywood would make about the writing of 'in cold blood' it's polite yet has that tiny element of drama, but it doesn't challenge the audience, it doesn't try to go into new territory because it would drive away ticket sales.
this film is lackluster, but still worth a rent just to be able compare it to 'capote' and come up with your own opinion.
