Review of Infamous (2006) by Karine S — 20 Apr 2009
Inevitably as well as necessarily people bring Infamous and Capote together and make a comparison straightaway out of the two films based on the very same story material. While Capote, the universally more acclaimed one, unfolds in a very dark, gloomy and almost-unbearable way, Infamous outshines with more liveliness and serves better with the purpose of Capote's commitment to the book and everything else.
If Philip Seymour Hoffman's role was eccentric, Toby Jones' is not only eccentric, but more interesting and soulful, or, shall we put it, dramatized. And that's exactly what all excellent films have in common.
