Review of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) by Lee F — 09 Jan 2014
Well, it's time to talk about the fourth movie in the series. I don't really know where to start. Let me just say that I want to like this movie. Sadly, it really suffers from trying to throw to much in all at once.
The movie is so uneven. There are moments that are fantastic and exactly what you want to see from an Indiana Jones film. Those very few moments are caught in between long action set pieces that become more ridiculous as the movie goes on.
The acting was fine, the look of the film matches the previous films, but in all that time between films this is the story they decided to go with? Aliens? Really? I understand that they probably peaked with the Holy Grail in the last movie, but aliens? Come on, there's got be a better story someone can come up with.
Especially in the twenty years since The Last Crusade came out. We deserve a better Indiana Jones film. I firmly believe there's still one more great movie to be made in this series. So, as the property is now owned by Disney, perhaps some new writers wouldn't be a horrible idea.
I'm looking sternly at you George Lucas!
