Review of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) by Loumex — 03 Jul 2023
I honestly think that 4 is the best grade for this movie. The whole endeavour is interesting and honestly you feel like you KNOW what the people behind it were trying to achieve. However, they did not manage to deliver.
While de-aging still looks flimsy, it was fine. Harison delivers an acting perfection and you can see how much he loves this character. Everyone delivers and on paper they are all doing a great job. The story, to the most part feels like a best-of collection of 1-3, perhaps a bit too much at times.
But, in the end, the movie feels like everyone on the writing room just said "yes lets put that in too" "yes, that too" and it ended up being... this movie. It is a long movie, and if it had at least 30 less minutes, it would deserve a 5.
I don't know if it is worse than The Crystal Skull. That movie needs a few deletions of scenes and it is watchable. This IS watchable but in the end, really, really, REALLY weird. Not because it goes wild, but because the reasons it does are not well executed, promoted, prepared, make really an impact.
