Undeniably a step backwards from its predecessor, Independence Day: Resurgence fits right into the late 90s, 'end of the world' flick genre: questionable acting and script - although undoubtably some superb special effects. All in all, ID: R is what we've come to expect over the years for the Science-Fiction genre: a strong first movie, slaughtered by its mediocre sequel.
