Resurgence fails to capture the fun and excitement of the first film, being more of a grimmer "bigger" rehash that promises a different sequel of its own. The returning characters feel wasted, while the new characters are completely forgettable.

Too much CGI, resulting in action sequences that are a pain to the eyes. Resurgence may offer some quick action-entertainment, but it's still a disappointing and ultimately unwanted sequel.
