Review of Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) by Movie M — 06 Nov 2016
"Independence Day: Resurgence" is the sequel to the 1996 "Independence Day", and follows along a similar plot line, just introducing new characters. What this movie wanted to do more than the last, was hit more of an emotional feel, having the new characters have some sort of relation to the old ones, hoping the audience will connect more.
However, it didn't work, the heart kinda lost its touch, and never really hit at all, as they spent a little bit of time with it, but then just cut right to the next scene. The pacing in this movie was also a major issue, it got extremely slow during the middle, and by the end, it was only barely saved from being a disaster.
There were many irrelevant characters in this movie, and were basically just introduced because they had some sort of connection to the first movie. Like was the first movie however, this movie had decent CGI, the aliens didn't look cheap, and the spaceships and fighter jets were actually done up pretty nicely, and made the visual effect look pretty nice.
However, as a whole, "Independence Day: Resurgence" is all over the place, and will lose the interest of a lot of its audience, and, unfortunately, even to fans of "Independence Day", is not worth watching.
