Review of Independence Day (1996) by James W — 20 Nov 2013
The whole world is rocked by extraterrestrial contact in this epic scale movie, and by now the whole world must've seen this sci-fi classic. When a huge ship hovers over the Earth, humans look above and see a giant beam of energy come down and take out every famous landmark.
The White House is definitively obliterated, whole cities are smouldered and on top of the chaos there is non stop roaring action brought to life by magnificent visuals, Independence Day is enjoyable no matter how many times you watch it purely cause of the huge scale of destruction it has to offer from exploding skyscrapers and people running in terror.
Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum are two fantastic actors and their chemistry in this movie is what drives the human part of it with witty and sharp dialogue, this is one of the best sci-fi movies when it comes to fun, although it's not exactly brain engaging material, but who really cares.
