Independence Day (also known as ID4) is a 1996 American science fiction action film directed and co-written by Roland Emmerich.
This sci-fi disaster film sure packs a punch. It's a bit Star Wars meets Alien but as it's based on our own planet Earth, it all seems a bit more realistic. Though it is sometimes overly patriotic, corny, and highly improbable, there is a enough drama, tension, and humour to keep the viewer's interest - and at times on the edge of their seat.
