Review of Independence Day (1996) by Kyle M — 29 Jun 2016
Emmerich attempted the heightening of the alien invasion flick with his sense of visionary and episodic disaster direction through some unbalanced straight writing and misusage of spotlight. He benefitted from the fitting patriotic theme to the core under a fun delivery of thrills and exhilaration, and the performances of Pullman, Goldblum, Smith and Quaid that are defining. This film is the first of his disaster films that carried his constant direction with some improvements on the way, but this is rated as his probable best. (B+).
