Review of Incredibles 2 (2018) by Drew R — 17 Jun 2018
After waiting fourteen years, Incredibles 2 arrives as a fun sequel that doesn't live up to the masterful original, but stands as a good film on its own nonetheless. Picking up right where The Incredibles ended, the Parrs are fighting the Underminer and the government on whether superheros should be legal or not.
When Elastigirl gets a chance to make superheros legal again she takes it, leaving Mr. Incredible to stay at home with the kids. The main plot is exciting and the action scenes with Elastigirl in the city are thrilling.
The subplot with Mr. Incredible learning to parent is also a lot of fun, and Jack-Jack has some great scenes. The villain is okay, though very predictable. As for the family dynamic, it's strong but not as good as the first movie.
The cast does a great job across the board and every character has a purpose. The animation is stunning and fluid and looks, obviously, much better than The Incredibles. The score is also great. Some negatives include the fact that the story feels very familiar, and is essentially a rehash of the first Incredibles.
Also, as already stated, the villain isn't very good. But it still is a lot of action-packed fun and stands in the middle of the Pixar pack. It's not the best Pixar sequel, but it is still very good.
