It may be a case of over-hyping, but something happened in the 14 years since the first film... animated films got better and better while Incredibles 2 feels as dowdy and underplayed as it's 60s aesthetic.
It's sluggish and has nothing that revolutionary to say or much new to tell. Fans of the franchise will enjoy it but newcomers will probably be let down.
