Review of Incredibles 2 (2018) by Konrad D — 16 Dec 2018
I've been looking forward to this movie for quite a while. I loved the idea of the entire family fighting crime together, each with their own contributions. But dispite forcing myself to try to enjoy this one, I just couldn't. At first I liked where the story was going, but it pretty much turned into a petty feminist propaganda piece full of man bashing that it couldn't have been anything other than concious decisions. And that ruined it for me. It's a shame Disney went in that direction.
If you want to deseperately make political statements in your work, don't abuse a beloved title like this to do so. And if you want to promote actual egalitarianism, then don't promote female chauvinism. It would have been so easy to give Elastigirl the central role she had without bashing men or making the strong male figure look weak and incompetent. Because men can't possible be good parents, right? They're just "babysitting".
I'm annoyed that this movie actually pissed me off a bit. I should have just turned it off but I looked forward to it for such a long time I hoped it would redeem itself later on. But nope. Just a steaming pile of trash written by the same politically correct out of touch idiots from Hollywood, ruining things unnecessarily.
What a waste ...
