All of this movie's amazing animation, editing, music, and sound are just not enough to distract from Brad Bird's grandstanding, sanctimonious writing. Were the pacing not ruined by entire scenes of unnecessary dialogue used to dump Bird's personal and political opinions on an unsuspecting audience, you may have noticed a slickly drawn facsimile of the first movie, as the plot (superheros are illegal! should they be?!) is no different than in the original. Bird projects as Mr Incredible, a self-righteous patriarch who carries entitlement into every interaction and expects to be rewarded for raw talent despite his quest to battle the bogeyman of mediocrity. This is a regressive movie, illustrative of a sycophantic culture in Hollywood that would see a beloved on-screen family used to spew Bird's pseudo-libertarian nonsense in a mindlessly entertaining and profitable package. If you see this, Bird will literally precious take time from your summer to rant about Common Core. What an insult to the very many other imaginative and skilled people who worked on this movie.

All the Jack-Jack scenes are great. Probably because he has no dialogue.
