Review of Incredibles 2 (2018) by Chris A — 29 Oct 2018
This movie has not aged a day in 14 years. Which is not a good thing. The underwhelming plot, villain, and stakes make for a slow and dry ride. Both elastigirl and violet's voice actors sound like they're portrayed by actresses who are decades older than their characters (which they are) and it's jarring.
There's an extensive amount of exposition in this movie which dives into topics far too dark and complex for an animated kids movie.
While the one glimmering light in this movie is Mr. Incredible and his supposed side plot of having to put down the macho super hero game and become a domestic father to his kids, the only real stand out piece of this movie is Jack Jack. Jack Jack's superpowers manage to embody the superhuman capriciousness of infants which is endearing. However, everything else in this movie felt like a meal that took far too long to get to the table and was much more appetizing on the menu than it was on the plate.
