Incredibles 2 is exactly what a sequel should be. And if it's not as good as the first, it definitely comes pretty damn close.

The animation is stunning. It's quite incredible (no pun intended) when your able to see the hairs on someone's shirt. The lighting in every scene is amazing and every scene has small little details hidden in the world that just make this movie even better.

The story is also pretty interesting. Me and many other people worried that the movie would be the exact same as the first but with the roles switched, and it kinda does, but there's much more to the story than that. And each of the heroes go through their own form of character development.

Most of the jokes in this movie land and they're amazing. There's one scene with Jack-Jack that had me bursting out laughing. Sure some jokes were a little weaker than others but even some of the best comedies ever suffer from that.

The action scenes were also very good. I would even say that they were better than the first's. They were visually stunning, well choreographed, intense, and fun to watch.

It's not perfect though. It doesn't go that deep into the whole "the world doesn't want supers that much anymore" plot line like the first one, except for maybe two or three scenes. It did talk about "bringing supers back into the spotlight," but that's not the same thing.

Another gripe I had was that the story didn't really surprise me that much. There weren't really any twists or turns, and the only twist the movie offered was one you could see a mile away.

This leads into my next problem which is the villain. It sets him up to be a really cool and interesting villain, and there was this one particular scene with him that I absolutely loved. It gave him a lot of menace and showed you that he is a real threat. But it completely drops all of this in favor of a very cliche and stale antagonist who we've seen millions of times.

Overall I think it's a very good movie. It's comes close to being just as good as the first, but there are a few things here and there that hold it back, but I won't hold it against it. I would definitely recommend.
