If you are ok with subtitles (French here) then this film will have you hooked like a page turning epic summer novel. Love story? Prison film? Melodrama? History Lesson? Yes yes yes. Difficult to watch? At times yes but if you like plot twists with "SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!" shocking endings- this movie has it all for you proving a very worthy Academy Award nominee.
