Review of In the Valley of Elah (2007) by Ray J — 03 Jul 2011
Even Tommy Lee Jones' utterly flawless performance can't revive this dreadfully formulaic and over-wrought attempt at non-jingoistic film making. The massively overrated Paul Haggis once again spectacularly struggles with his haunting and relevant subject matter, drowning any potentially poignant scene in a mire of cliche and melodrama and contriving to discuss the important issue of Post-war syndrome via a hopelessly unlikely B-grade murder mystery.
