Review of In the Valley of Elah (2007) by Robb J — 01 Mar 2009
A very good film which balances some very important points on the horrors of war and the psychological effects it makes on the soldiers who fight in them with the very fragile dignity that a grieving mother and father have as their son is found dead & unrecognisable - his murder a dark mystery that occurs on American soil.
The son's father (a military career officer) is then caught up in a struggle to find justice for his son and what really happened as the military try to cover it up. Very good performances but the story is phenomenal, it is loosely based on a true event which makes it even more powerful.
