Fascinating story based on the infamous Sada Abe. Oshima did a fine job showing love in its vexing form, but during the process I found the sex scenes degenerate with boredom. Perhaps that was the intent--to make the audience feel numbed by erotic excess, and to compare our engagement to the main characters inexhaustible passion.
