Review of In the Realm of the Senses (1976) by Weaam M — 07 Feb 2016
I am surprised that, in 1976, Japan, which I always thought were quite a conservative culture, were making films like this. This is aparently a true story about a bloke with all Geishas and concubines gets married to one and basically devote all their time to bonking 'n stuff.
They get pretty obsessed about it and it all gets a bit too much. I mean, it is all a bit too much right from the start, if you are expecting a normal film that is. Come to terms with the fact that this is porn disguised as a historical film and it still get's too much.
They cross the line so many times that there is no room for any more lines by the end. A wierd, unique film but not suitable for 99% of the viewing public.
