Review of In the Realm of the Senses (1976) by Antal A — 21 Feb 2009

Based upon a true story, this is a strong but disturbing movie about sexual obsession, while also overthrowing the "classical" roles of master and servant, male and female. the movie contains explicit sexual scenes (if you would take out those scenes you would end up with less than 10 minutes of film), so don't go here if you can't handle that. otherwise, this is a movie worth checking out. if anything because it's different.

Oh, and the first time I watched the movie, I didn't know the story, which made it the more impressive. so try to avoid reading reviews or synopsi because most of them contain spoilers.
