Review of In the Name of the Father (1993) by Anne F — 23 Dec 2010
One of Day-Lewis's more naturalistic performances, this is a reminder that he doesn't have to play a butcher or an oil man to be captivating. A strong performance from Emma Thompson also compliments the film, and to those who are close to the subject matter, it may very well be moving and passionate.
To me, however, it's a dated film, directed with manufactured and synthetic emotion by Jim Sheridan.
