Review of In the Mood for Love (2000) by Nathan F — 24 Nov 2008
Kar-Wai's distillation of love is rendered in an evocative splendor; if there's one thing here to love its the camera, swooping hypnotically; time for the film slows down--we are treated to several 'repeats' of the same scene; and slow-motion musical interludes are more than common; but still, for the slow, sometimes too slow, process of falling in love, Kar-Wai builds his film gracefully and meticulously; a film with its own gravity, it's hard to resist its alluring pull.
