Review of In the Mood for Love (2000) by Saara T — 22 Dec 2010
This movie reminds me so much of "Amelie" with the way it uses colors, the general tone of the soundtrack, and the awkwardness of its characters. It's a very downbeat version of that movie--with the benefit of a more interesting, I'm tempted to say.
Also, Maggie Cheung is tremendously great in this movie, especially with the way she captures the alienation and isolation of her character. I'm very much interested in seeing more of the director's stuff, especially because I love the way he frames his shots.
It's always something interesting (yet simple) to look at.
