Review of In the Mood for Love (2000) by Dorianator F — 17 Dec 2013
A powerful film centered around an infidelity grounded love affair where morality is heavily dominant in 1960s Hong Kong and Singapore. Wong Kar-Wai conjures up an atmosphere of a different kind of romance whose sets and cinematography are stained in dark and blurred lighting and soaked in colours of red, yellow, green and purple in particular, rich in passion.
Of course, the screen is dominated by the betrayed spouses who come to love one another just at the wrong moments" Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Maggie Cheung. A deeply personal film that emotionally resonates with the viewer long after it has finished.
