Review of In the Loop (2009) by Ali B — 24 May 2010
Its been a long time since I've seen a funny comedy. Probably years. "In the Loop" is hilarious almost the whole way through, only hitting a lull in the final act. The film is a satire/farce, told in documentary (or is that mockumentary) style.
Every actor is funny (nice to see Anna Chlumsky of "My Girl" fame again), and the movie is incredibly, inventively profane. The whole picture is madcap absurdity, featuring the best that British humour has to offer.
The script is relatively light as far as the satire is concerned, but heavy on straight up belly laughs. Well deserved Oscar nominee for best screenplay (it was based on a BBC miniseries).
