Review of In the Line of Fire (1993) by James S — 12 Jan 2010
I must admit that I have a soft spot for presidential thrillers...okay, anything where the US President has a vital roll. This movie has it on two different fronts...a look back at the most recognizable presidential event (to be politically correct) of the 20th centure and the possible assissination of the sitting president.
Throw in one secret service agent who is the link between the two, and you have "In the Line of Fire." The look back at the Kennedy event would capture the attention of any fan, and the way that the fact that it all revolves around one secret service agent who would be part of not one but two presidential assassinations definitely keeps one's attention.
John Malkovich is haunting...perhaps the most sinister dead-pan since Hannibal Lechter. Without giving away what happened, I only have one thing to say...won't these bad guys ever learn? You don't mess with Clint!
