Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Vincent L — 28 Aug 2016
Missed the boat big time. Barely shows the true brutality of whaling and why the sperm whale wanted to drive away these human predators from his family. Melville's Moby Dick was the first novel that took a look at things from the animal's point of view.
Sadly, In The Heart of the Sea has none of Melville's depth. This could have been a great movie that told about the end of an era and the transition from one energy source to another, but it decided to play it safe and gave us nothing to ponder or debate.
A real waste of talent and money. Two stars because the actors gave it their best and the special effects are amazing. Otherwise, I would have given it zero stars.
